Riding On Rocks - Mountain Bike Zen
Riding Over Rocky Terrain
Rocky terrain has challenges of its own - its hard and bumpy. First thing - if you can't see what's coming, go take a look before riding down it, if you get to a drop you cannot handle and you cannot stop, well the results are kind of inevitable.
One of the key things to remember when riding rocky and bumpy terrain is to stay loose, your arms should bent at the elbows and your legs bent at the knees. This helps maintain your riding position and makes your limps act as shock absorbers between your body and your bike. If you are tense you will find it harder to steer and to stay on your pedals.
Look ahead and pick your route, try to avoid last minute changes of mind, instead pick your route and as you approach be aware of what you need to do to get through it.
