Riding On Sand - Mountain Bike Zen
Sand Riders
Sand can be a common feature of trails and tracks, it will slow you down and slip you up.
If you see sand coming make sure you keep up your momentum, ease your weight off of the bars to avoid digging your front wheel into the soft ground. Take wide berths on corners or use a skid.
A light bike is handy for sand heavy courses so you can get off and carry it!
Make sure you give the bike a good hosing down afterwards as sand can cause problems for just about everything on your bike from blocking your valves, jamming your suspension, and clogging your gears.
